Washington, DC
Headed to a pre-Thanksgiving dinner with friends tonight (before my office Thanksgiving lunch tomorrow). The usual, and delicious, suspects are on the menu: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potato pie, spinach gratin, pumpkin pie and my mother's brownie pie - and that's just the food I know about.
In honor of my favorite holiday, I'm taking a vacation from my vacation (blogging) and won't be online again until I'm ten pounds heavier next week.
Enjoy the holiday by snuggling up and chowing down!
Sure, it's all the rage, but industrial lighting will always have a special place in my heart.
Show your state pride while drying your hands with these silk screened state dish towels. I love my Louisiana and Virginia ones; all I need is Washington, D.C., to make the union complete.
Get a whole new perspective on that potato peeler, and everything else that fills our world. If the poster isn't convincing enough, watch the documentary trailer here.
I walked out of my apartment last night and all I could smell was Thanksgiving - that smokey sweet flavor of fallen leaves and wood burning fireplaces. It's my favorite holiday - no presents, no fuss, just lots of food and family all bundled together (and the Thanksgiving Day parade, of course).

Maybe it's the cool air and rainy days (or that extra year I'm carrying around), but this past weekend I was drawn to the soothing sound of Dr. Ralph Stanley. Thought you may need a little bluegrass on your Wednesday too.

I've received such encouraging comments and emails about the new look of Voila, thank you kindly! Enjoy your Monday, where every you may be. As for me, I'm still recovering from my cake hangover.
